Bemelmans teams up with an aristo on his uppers, Monsieur Le Comte de St. Cucuface. The two tricksters cage, inveigle, and wheedle royal-worshipers out of food and lodging. It's funny, never acerbic or mean, and gives a good change if one has been reading heavy stuff.
