A very readable memoir, well written and lively. Recounts Marion's days as a child in England and spans a lifetime of upper crust living with horses, dogs and a plethora of eccentric folks in the Virginia Piedmont and neighboring environs.

Marion duPont Scott (May 3, 1894 – September 4, 1983) was a thoroughbred horse breeder who operated a racing stable for both flat and steeplechase racing. She was the last private owner of Montpelier, the mansion and land estate of former United States President James Madison.
