WARREN, Charles D.

Acanthus Press

1998

Fine/ Fine

One of the most important American architects of the 20th century, Platt (1861-1933) devoted his career to rejuvenating traditions of architecture and garden design. The numerous b&w photos in this 1913 work provide the best record of his achievements, and serve as both a guide to the surviving buildings and gardens and a reminder of the scope and quality of his work. The new introduction by Warren, a practicing architect, discusses Platt's combinations of Italian Renaissance, English Georgian, and American colonial styles.

Charles Adams Platt (October 16, 1861 – September 12, 1933) was an American architect, garden designer, and artist of the "American Renaissance" movement. His garden designs complemented his domestic architecture.
