George Ross' 1930s guide to the restaurants of Manhattan. The directory includes an entry for every day of the year, noting address, price range, the maitre d' or proprietor, and a small précis of the establishment. The book was published just following the end of prohibition making it an essential guide for locals, as well as tourists. There are sections 'For two young things very much in love', 'How to drown that hour between curtain fall and night club time', and 'To soothe the savage beast'. Copies with the silvery art deco dust jacket are scarce.
