A rare surviving 1930s fabric sample album from the Parisian textile designers Lébotys. Lébotys were based on 16, rue Vivienne, Paris and supplied high-quality textiles to the fashion houses and dressmakers of the day. The title page reads 'Si vous désirez la perfection dans vos ROBES, TAILLEURS, MANTEAUX, employez les TISSUS LÉBOTYS fabriqués spécialement pour la couture, adoptés par la Haute-Couture Parisienne.' This album of fabrics for Spring 1934 contains approximately 600 swatches, being a mix of crêpe, taffeta, silk, satin, voile, wool, linen, cotton, muslin, serge, etc. There are an even mix of plain and patterned textiles, including embroidered cloth, textured matte fabrics, geometric and floral patterns, modern tartans and checks, and woven plains. The fabrics are often shown in several different colourways and there are an additional three fold-out charts with samples showing the multiple different shades available. A rich source of inspiration.
