Major Cullum, ex-chief of the Remount Service had long experience in selecting, breeding and training horses for the US Army and is ideally fitted to discuss ponies, a phase of the game of polo about which there is all too little useful information available. The author divided the book into three sections: 1. Selection and basic requirements of a polo pony. 2. Training the prospect and outlines a definite method that takes into consideration the psychology of the horse as well as the state of development of the prospect when he comes into the hands of the trainer. 3. Major Cullum discusses certain principles of play and tactical conceptions which he feels should be eliminated from the game and advocates other new principles of play which have been tested in high goal polo.
