Diana Vreeland once said that “too much good taste can be boring,” and though there are plenty of elegant baubles in her collection, the items in this sale catalogue are certainly not boring. The book contains b & w and color photos of nearly two hundred lots of jewellery from the Vreeland estate. There are also photos of Mrs. Vreeland wearing the jewelry. The designers include Kenneth Jay Lane, Yves St. Laurent, Chanel, Tiffany & Company, Bulgari, and Van Cleef & Arpels. Cover illustration of Mrs. Vreeland is by Cecil Beaton.

“Diana Vreeland, in black sweater with a rope (or two) of pearls or ruby beads, has the presence of Empress Eugenie dressed by Worth and bedecked in half the French crown jewels.”

--Kenneth Jay Lane
