Charles Cary Rumsey attended Harvard University, studied art in Paris at the Academie Julian and at Boston School of Fine Art under Bela Pratt. His public works are found worldwide, such as the frieze at the Manhattan Bridge, Zion Park, the Smithtown Bull, Smithtown NY, Lima Peru, Rice Memorial Stadium, "Pizarro" in Trujillo Spain, and many others. He was a top ranked international polo player with Meadowbrook Polo Team Long Island New York. Charles Cary Rumsey was regarded as a top equestrian artist. His works are found in the collections of Nationale Beaux- Arts in Pars, Museum of Modern Art NY, The Brooklyn Museum, Albright Knox Museum, Burchfield Center, Buffalo NY and the Cody Art Museum, Wyoming.
