Ian was born in Inverness, Scotland in 1964. He attended art college in Kent, England in the mid 1980’s. There he met fellow painter Claire Waltier. In the late 1980’s he returned along with Claire to Scotland to paint the Highland landscape. Ian and Claire married and started a family in the mid 1990’s and the family moved to Cheshire, England in 2000. From the early 1990’s Ian has regularly exhibited in London with the Rountree Tryon Gallery. He is also represented in Scotland by The Gallery at The House of Bruar.
