A stunning book of 800 illustrations of the different magnificent creations of the house of Cartier.
The only reason it matters that this gorgeous image-filled book is written in French is it means it was published in Paris, and is therefore scarce in the United States (it is actually uncommon in France now as well). The book is five hundred pages and is nearly all images. Save for the photo credits, there really is no text. The art direction is superb: the book fascinatingly juxtaposes classic images with contemporary photos of Cartier jewelry. It is if it was designed by a Baroque version of Andy Warhol. Cameo appearances by Greta Garbo, Count Robert de Montesquiou, Daisy Fellowes, and assorted glitterati. One of the most stunning books we have come across.
