The auction catalogue for the historic sale of the Duchess of Windsor's jewels at Sotheby's in 1987. Throughout their life together the Duke and Duchess had commissioned jewellery from the top makers of the twentieth century. As a fashion icon of her day, the styles that the Duchess wore set new trends in jewellery design. Cartier, David Webb, Darde & Fils, Van Cleef & Arpels, Seamen Schepps, Verdura, Harry Winston and Belperron are some of the designers featured in the sale. Nearly all the pieces are illustrated in colour and include bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings, cufflinks, brooches, pins, buttons and evening bags. The Duke's own accessories (tie-pins, seal boxes, cigarette cases, cufflinks, snuff boxes, photo frames, swords, watches, sporrans and buckles) were also offered for sale.
