The first sale organized with the support of La Maison Cartier. Each item offered was authenticated by Cartier and when possible enhanced by historical details and drawings from its archives. The exhibition toured the world in November 1996 with previews in Paris, London, New York, Tokyo, Dubai, Hong Kong among other cities.

Comprising 624 lots of exceptional creations by the Parisian Maison from its founding in 1847 to present day, including objects and jewels from the mid to late 19th century, in the Garland, Russian, Art Deco styles ranging from Black and White and Egyptian Revival to Tutti Fruiti and Chinoiseries, with a section on Cartier’s famous Mystery Clocks.
