CHICAGO, April 7. — The West won its first national open indoor polo championship tonight when Steve Hammond, hard-riding member of a selected high-goal Western trio, drove home a final second goal which downed an all-star team from the East, 7 to 6 1/2, in the concluding match of the East-West tournament.
