Jim Pierce learned the art of wildfowling and decoy carving from his uncle, Sal Fulton, in Havre de Grace. He started making decoys at the age of 13 and eventually established his own shop in 1952. Pierce later played a significant role in founding both the Cecil County Upper Bay Decoy Museum and the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum.
