FOSTER, R.F.

Edmond Hoyle (1672-1769) was an early 18th century English writer concentrating on the rules of card games, whose name became synonymous for following the rules. Robert Foster’s (1853-1945) rule book covered the rules for card and other indoor table games of chance and skill, some of which are common and many that are now uncommon today.
