An imaginary post-War fashion parade, brought to life by the words of "Max Boy". The intention was to deliver delight to the fashion-restricted women of rationed Britain. 136 fashion models are described with short vignettes, closing with an "Intermission" with the wishful words that the author hopes to continue the parade in "More Modes". Max Boy was a pseudonym for a British couturier, perhaps Norman Hartnell, but more likely Edward Molyneux. Molyneux had returned to Britain from Paris during the war and would have been short of design work at this time. Why not turn his hand to writing? The book is dedicated to "Lucille", Lady Duff Gordon, with whom Molyneux worked for several years.
