PLAYBOY later featured exclusive pictorial spreads devoted to the Bond girls around the release of each new film. This tradition started in the November 1965 issue which had an iconic cover by celebrated Italian photographer Pompeo Posar (1921-2004). This issue tied in with the release of Thunderball in December 1965 and included a lengthy and candid interview with Sean Connery, and a 14-page pictorial essay "James Bond's Girls" by screenwriter Richard Maibaum, featuring many of the girls from the first four films in the series in various stages of undress. Both Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig have been the subject of PLAYBOY's in-depth interviews, and in recent years the magazine has celebrated the various James Bond anniversaries with a look back at their coverage from the past six decades.
