In 1905, the legendary British fillies' triple crown champion Pretty Polly capped off her four-year-old season by winning the Jockey Club Cup (now known as the British Champions Long Distance Cup) at Newmarket over 2.25 miles, defeating the champion stayer Bachelor's Button. Ridden by Bernard Dillon and trained by Peter Gilpin, this victory cemented her status as one of the most versatile and greatest racehorses of the 20th century.
