"Pierre-Joseph Redoute's Liliacees" 1985 Sotheby's

From Sotheby's comes this presentation of Pierre-Joseph Redoute's Les Liliacees, botanical engravings of plants (amaryllis, iris, narcissus to name a few) acquired primarily by the Empress Josephine (Bavaria) in the early 1800's. Redoute, called the "Raphael of flowers" is one of history's most famous botanical artists and the drawings shown here are wonderful illustrations.
