Tristram "Tiny" Heppell (1876–1937) was a prominent British flat-racing jockey and trainer active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.Career HighlightsEarly Life: Born in 1876 in New Seaham, England, to a mining family.Apprenticeship: He learned his trade under the well-known Middleham trainer Dobson Peacock, eventually rising to become the head of the stable.
Notable Victory: He famously steered a long-priced underdog horse named Gardenhurst to victory in the Cumberland Plate on the old Swifts course at Carlisle.
Transition to Training: After his riding career, he also successfully qualified and worked as a racehorse trainer.
