The exhibition marked twenty-five years of Saint Laurent's career and was the first show at the Costume Institute to be given to a living designer. The catalogues includes many new and archival photographs, including several colour images of Dior's designs taken especially for the book by Duane Michals. There are contributory texts by Diana Vreeland, Rene Huyghe, Pierre Berge, Paloma Picasso-Lopez, Marella Agnelli, Catherine Deneuve, and by the designer himself.
